We were recently pleased to be recommended to the recent purchaser of a local farm house. The owner had found this old auction sign for the house in their barn. They thought it would make a nice feature to hang in the barn, however the hand painted sign was pretty well scuffed and deterioted. The sign was brought to us with a request to restore the sign to somewhere near its original condition. Upon closer examination we decided that the old frame was rotten and would have to be replaced. The substrate is only hardboard and curved over the years by damp. We mounted the blank onto new exterior plywood and reframed the sign before restoration. Firstly as much of the splashed paint was hand shipped off before we had to basically re hand paint all the lettering before varnishing. Portrayed here is the finished sign with the before pictures alongside The very satisfied owner proudly  presented her partner with the finished sign as a Christmas present
